I know how this looks. You’re thinking Jade spends too much time smoking catnip or grew up on magic mushrooms, right? But you know what? It’s neither of those. Jade is just being Jade. She’s one of the more inventive of the four cats we have roaming around here. Jade see’s things from a slightly different perspective than most other cats.

She’s not just scratching her back either. No, no. She’s hangin’ out upside down just to see what things are like that way. She certainly likes to try different way of looking at things. Which is the main reason we got her in the first place.

We noticed she was a unique personality the day we first saw her at the Humane Society. All the other cats sat quietly in their cages while Jade was climbing the walls and ceiling of her cage. Jade stood out as an original and was my first choice.

The cage is long gone, but Jade still keeps up with her unique ways. Here are a bunch of pics of Jade doing here upside down thing.

What is it about cats? One minute they’re hissing and swatting at each other and the next they’re the best of friends. Must be some kind of territorial / power struggle thing. I’ll like you as long as you do things on my terms.

Anyway, here are some cute pics of one of their “I’m your best friend” moments. This is Spooky and Dax sharing the foot stool in the TV room where normally one of them would sleep the day away.

Our cats aren’t really that stressed out. But if they were, this would be one of the best ways for them to release any stress. To get the party started we put a bit of catnip in their Cat Spa and the rest is up to them. Jade and Jasmine are usually the first ones in. Shortly after Spooky and Dax get wind of what’s going on and join the party.

A little word of advice; don’t put the catnip on any carpets or rugs unless you want to have them scratched to pieces. We sprinkled some catnip on the carpet and next thing we know all the cats were clawing away at the carpet trying to get to the catnip. We quickly vacuumed it up and used the cat spa instead.

Our four cats each have their own beautiful palette of colors. We’ve created a palette of colors for Spooky, Dax, Jasmine and Jade to highlight the unique and beautful colors of each cat. Of course it might come in handy if we need to color co-ordinated the cats with new colors for the house!

Jade is one of the more creative cats in the Band of Cats. See has her way of doing things and no is going to tell her different. One area that she gets the award for originality is sleeping. We have this nice big cushy couch. Jade loves to spleep on the big cushy couch, but in her own way.

We think she looks like a chicken when she sleeps this way, so we’ve dubbed her ‘Chicken Cat’. Anyway, here she is as the sleeping chicken cat!

Cats love stairs. We have alot of stairs in our place that connect the second and third floors. You can look from the top of the third floor stairs all the way down to the first floor. This is the best thing as far as our cats are concerned. They spend most of their day look down from the top stairs upon us lesser beings.

As superior they feel doing that, there are a few other things I’ve noticed about cats and stairs.

This is Ladybug. She’s going to her new home today but she got to go to work first. She wasn’t interested in doing any work though. Luckily she was just a little kitten and could pick a small spot to nap where she wouldn’t be seen by her department manager.
