Halloween is not Halloween without a carved pumpkin or two by your front door to welcome in all those excited trick-or-treat-ers. Every Halloween night we’ve had a carved pumpkin glowing in our front window.

Scary faces, witches and goblins will always make a good pumpkin carving pattern, but our preference is the ubiquitous black cat. The cat is an intrinsic part of Halloween just as much as monsters, ghosts and ghouls.

To further glorify the Halloween Cat we have put together a larger collection of Cat pumpkin stencils for everyone to enjoy. See our first list of Cat Pumpkin Stencils.

We found lots of new pumpkin patterns this year and there was a cat stencil in almost all the sets we saw. We’ll be carving a few of these cat patterns ourselves this year. If we could, we would use them all.

With hurricane Kyle coming up the east coast towards Nova Scotia we hope people keep safe and stay inside. Hurricanes are nasty, scary storms so if you do have to leave your home to go to a more secure location be sure to prepare for your cat too. Even if the storm isn’t as bad as predicted it’s always better to be safe than sorry.

Halloween is on the way and the Band of Cats are very excited about it. There are all kinds of Halloween books for kids this year, but our favorites ones are about cats of course.
