Twitter, that’s what. The Band of Cats have joined the huge community of other furry tweeters on Twitter. We already have lots of great followers and have found an amazing amount of cats to follow.

If you’re a cat or a cat lover on twitter, stop by the Band of Cats Twitter page and follow Spooky, Dax and Jade. We have a bunch of tweets so far with more on the way.

We used the list of tweeting Cats on the Cats Who Twitter site to find some great cats to follow. We’re really happy with the followers we have so far and can’t wait for more cat to follows us.

Steven has sent in a fun picture of his cat, Ebony, doing his stretches. Here is what he had to tell us about Ebony.

“Ebony is a one year old cat that I recently adopted along with his sister Ivory. I have a black and a white short hair. They have both brought me much joy in my life. People at work have commented how calmer I am now. Ebony was a charter at the Humane society where I adopted him. When I went into the teenage room, he was the only one that came up to me. I knew then I had to adopt him. A friend mentioned that I might consider adopting two cats as they would keep each other company when I was not at home.”

Jade communicates regularly with us

To help you understanding your cat and develop a closer bond with them we found three articles about Cat Communication, Cat Talk and Cat Emotions that we think are worth reading. Cat Communication covers a number of ways of how your cat communicates using sound, smell and body language. It has some good diagrams to help explain things visually.

Cat Communication

Cats which communicate mostly with other cats use mainly on body language and scent – this is their “native language”. Their body language is subtle, but many owners and cat workers learn to read the more obvious cues.

There are at least nineteen different types of “miaow” which differ in pitch, rhythm, volume, tone, pronunciation and the situations in which they are used. The familiar purr may be used for contentment, self-reassurance or an invitation for close contact.

If you’re like me, you have a lot of cat pictures that you’ve taken over the years. Some images I’ve managed to get into a frame for others to enjoy. Other cat pictures I’ve put into a photo album and the rest are sitting on my hard drive or on a CD/DVD somewhere.

The Scratch Lounge is the kind of furniture you don’t mind letting your cat scratch to pieces.  We found this new approach to cat scratch technology while surfing around the net the other day. We liked it’s nice simple design and we knew Jade would love a box to go crazy in, stretch out or just relax in and, from what we saw, this might be her dream box. So we ordered one.

The lolcats trend is very popular as we all know, and every so often a really funny one comes along and you just have to laugh. Here is one that you don’t see very often.

What’s delaying my dinner?

Someone has found what seems to be the oldest lolcats on a picture postcard. It was recently found in an antique shop in Seattle and was made in 1905. Interesting to see that kittens have been dealing with modern day struggles for over 100 years. Luckily the puffy sleeves are not in fashion anymore.

For the month of March Amazon is having a sale on pet food in their grocery section that can add up to some fantastic savings! There isn’t a huge selection for cats, but it’s worth taking a look to see if your Cat’s food is in the sale.

Here is our monthly collection of Cat Faux Paws; a series of unexpected cat-pictures. There are only a few this month. I guess the cats and the camera were being more co-operative for us this month. We hope you enjoy them. We especially like the one of Dax. Enjoy.
