Cat photography in a nano-second

Posted in Funny Cats, Pictures of cats on Aug 21 2008

Photography is all about timing. To get that unique, cool shot you need to be in the right place at the right time, even if it is for just a split-second. Capturing that special image at just the right time before the moment is lost forever can be a very difficult thing to do.

Here are some amazing pictures of split second photography with our favorite subject, Cats!

So how do these people do it? Well, most of the time it’s just plain luck. Other people actually take their camera with them everywhere. If something happens, they’re ready for it. You never know when the opportunity for a cool shot might present itself.

It also helps to have the right camera for the job. In order to get these types of shots you’ll need a good camera that can freeze time with fast shutter speeds. Most compact digital cameras these days have a slight delay between clicking the shutter button and actually taking the picture. They are getting better but your best bet is a semi-professional digital SLR.

I actually left out one other important ingredient to getting a nano second picture or just some good photos and that’s patience. Lot’s of patience. Especially with pets.

I get most of my pictures using the suggestions above. Sometime I just get lucky. I also use a Digital SLR with zero lag time which helps get the pictures you see rather than something a few seconds after.

I have a few posts coming up on getting good pictures of your cat and the process we use for our images if you’re interested. Stay tuned!
