What’s the next best thing to having a cool photograph of your Cat? How about an ultra-super-realistic painting of your cat? A painting was done of our Spooky a little while ago and it was very exciting. It was a unique piece of art that you just can’t get with a digital camera. Even though we believe that photography is a very strong art form as well, a painting can offer another way of capturing the essence of our furry feline friends.

These photo-realistic Cat Drawings are the work of a 38 year old graphic artist Paul Lung from Hong Kong. Paul’s pencil art takes up to 60 hours to create each pet portrait using a 0.5 technical pencil drawing on A2 paper with no eraser. In order to suspend the disbelief of some people Paul has taken videos to prove that these pet drawings are not photographs.

Susan Garriques, an artist in North Carolina, created a wonderful painting of our cat Spooky as part of an upcoming art show that is running this summer. It’s our first Cat Art. We’ve had many fun things happen since we began the Band of Cats web site, but this is one of the most exciting things that has happened to us so far.

When Susan contacted us a few months ago about painting Spooky we were very surprised and gladly allowed her to use a picture of Spooky to create the painting.

Free downloadable fonts are available in all shapes and sizes. More free truetype fonts are becoming available on the web each day. For those not familiar with fonts, they are the type faces you use each day in your email, graphics and office documents. There are tiny fonts, bold fonts, fancy fonts and fonts that are symbols or images commonly referred to as dingbats.

There are a few computer fonts that have cat symbols or images in with a series of other images. We actually used a few of these for the Band of Cats logo.

Just recently we came across some fun dingbat fonts of our favorite subject, cats. We found assorted styles from silhouette cats to cartoon cats. We collected them together to let you see all the cool kinds of Cat dingbats.
