Dax shared what seemed to be a very hi-key secret with Jasmine the other day. We tried to make it out but we had two things going against us. We weren’t close enough to hear and we didn’t speak ‘cat’. Figures eh?

Anyway, luckily for us Jade, our informant, speaks ‘cat’ fluently. Jade didn’t tell us what Dax said word for word but it was something about who really runs the show around here and the best way to get extra food when you need it.

It didn’t surprise us much as we pretty much knew all that stuff already. I guess Jasmine just needed a reaffirmation of sorts and Dax decided he was the cat for the job.

We’ve since let the cats continue with their little charade of dominance and independence. But we’ve tightened up on leaving any food laying about (especially Tuna) and maintained weekly updates from our informant.

Let’s see who is the boss next time Dinner is late. They’ll be putty in our hands, at least until their fed.

Now listen up, and pay attention cause I’m gonna say this once.

A few days ago an alien cat landed in our kitchen and started observing our morning routing trying to figure out just what all the commotion was about.

(We know it’s Jasmine in our kid’s saucer, but just play along with us on this one, okay?)

She remained very still and went unnoticed at first. It wasn’t until one of our kids noticed the Alien cat hiding in the shadows that we knew we where being watched. We kept our distance and stayed calm until we knew what the Alien cat’s next move.

The alien cat seemed at first very reluctant  to leave the security of their spacecraft. She seemed to be able to breathe our air and wasn’t intimidated by us and our activities. The Alien cat also had an uncanny resemblance to Jasmine our house cat.

I wasn’t until we left the room that the Alien Cat started to venture out of the vessel. We were unable to determined why it was there and what it was looking for.

We came back to the kitchen a few hours later and noticed the Alien Cat was gone and so was the food and water from all the cat bowls.

Our cats sleep all over the house at night. They each have their favorite spot to crash at bedtime. Sometimes it’s the couch, other times it’s a chair, or the stairs, a scratch post, well, you get the idea.

Suffice to say, all four of our cats rarely sleep together in the same spot. It just doesn’t happen very often.

Last night was one of those rare moments when the entire Band picked the same spot to sleep! Of course the spot they choose was our big green couch.

I was lucky enough to witness this rare phenomenon and took a few pictures for all to see. I think we’ll see another Lunar Eclipse before this happens again.

The two cats in question are none other than Dax and Jasmine. Both of these cats are fine on their own but when they get together they usually have something to argue about. It’s hard to know what will happen when they get together.

This time I was caught right in the middle of another impending conflict. Not a good spot to be in with these unpredictable two. (I’m actually glad Jade wasn’t a part of this.) Anyway, there I was as Jasmine approached from the family room and Dax was on his way up the stairs. They were headed right for each other!

I was poised and ready with my camera and was tempted to say something like “Look out Dax” or “Jasmine, incoming at 9 o’clock!” But I didn’t say a word, stood my ground and watched to see what would happen.

I was surprised at what came next.

Here comes Jasmine innocently approaching from the family room and headed right for Dax.

Here comes Dax up the stairs right towards Jasmine.

Jasmine has rolled before. Now she’s doing it again. It’s what she does all the time and she loves doing it. It probably won’t be her last time either.

Here is Jasmine rolling again. Her drop and roll has become her trademark move. It’s the cutest darn thing too! You can’t help but love it.

This time she decided to get her tail in on the act. “Silly tail, getting in the way of my rolling!” “I’ll teach you”, says Jasmine.

Its great watching Jasmine roll around and seeing all the different antics she gets into. She’s in a very playful, happy mood when she’s rolling.

Jasmine is always poking her nose in places where a cat’s nose doesn’t normally belong.

Her nose has been everywhere including a pair of shoes, the laundry basket, grocery bags, shoes, fireplaces, furniture, boxes and anything else that looks intriguing and worthy of Jasmine’s nosiness.

Well, the other day Jasmine found something new to stick her nose in apart from the usual box or shoe. This was something different and had to be investigated. It was a back-pack. It had been inadvertently left on the floor. Jasmine seized the moment and immediately grabbed the opportunity to nose around.

It was as if the back-pack was calling her. The temptation was too much. She ran right over and began checking it out as if she was sure there was something of major importance inside. It was open too. Perfect!

Unfortunately her optimism had let her down once again and Jasmine found nothing of interest. Not even a string to yank on. She reluctantly abandoned the back-pack and took-off in search of other nose worthy adventures.

Next time their paths cross, the back-pack may contain something more intriguing inside, or it may not. Either way, when they do meet again, Jasmine’s nose will be ready.

See more Pictures of Cats in - Jasmine Rolls - Part 2: More of a Sun soaked afternoon with boots

As usual, it ended just as quickly as it had begun. It was yet another play-fight between Jasmine and Dax. Jasmine and Dax are always mixing it up with Jasmine being the one who get starts it.

I’m not sure what it’s all about or why it happens but every time Jasmine and Dax get together the paws start swinging.

Like this one time, Dax was sniffing a spot on the rug and Jasmine just had to see what it was. Then, out of nowhere, Jasmine gave Dax a shot. As it turns out, there was nothing there.

A few minutes later Jasmine gave Dax a nuzzle while he was relaxing on the carpet. Then boom! The paws are swinging again. Then, as if someone flipped a switch, it was over and Jasmine and Dax were hanging out together as if nothing had happened.

It’s too much fun to watch. I’ll have to get a video of it one of these days. Since there’s no hissing, puffy tails or arched backs I’m sure it’s all in good fun.

This is a fun sequence of photos I took of Jasmine as she spent the afternoon sleeping on the kitchen rug. It’s probably the longest series of images I’ve ever taken of the cats so I’ve had to do this post in a few parts.

Jasmine has a thing for boots and shoes. She loves them. Needless to say she plopped herself down on the kitchen rug right between my grubby shoes and my son’s winter boots.

Jasmine looked extremely comfortable and snuggled right in. In addition to the shoes the sun was streaming in through the back door creating the quintessential spot for Jasmine to lounge the afternoon away.

I only planned to take a few images, but Jasmine really hammed it up for the camera so much I kept shooting while she kept offering little meows and rolling around on the rug stretching and being all cute ‘n stuff.

Enjoy the pictures. Jasmine certainly enjoyed having them taken.
