Success!

Our picture of the month for June 2008 is the ‘caught in the act’ picture of Jade, Spooky and Dax raiding the cat food cupboard. Jade is the front-cat with Spooky right behind him and Dax is keeping watch while the others are busy getting the loot!

They are well fed cats, but I guess they had nothing better to do and were up for a challenge. It was a well executed operation, at least unitl I showed up on the scene and caught them red-handed.

Our sun-lovin’ cat came back the very next day just like clockwork. Jasmine was back again for more sun-lovin’ fun. Here she creates a dramatic shadow of her own while being surrounded with a silver-lining from an intense sunbeam.

Jasmine loves sunny days. Spooky does too, but I think Jasmine loves them more. Jasmine spends the most time sitting, rolling and lying in the sun. On a sunny day our back door is the prime spot for any sun-lovin’ cat. There is a nice big matt there that gets completely drenched in sunlight.

Jasmine has spent countless sunny afternoons there and keeps coming back for more. Here is the first of 2 series of images of our Sun-lovin’ cat Jasmine. In this series Jasmine is getting a full dose of sunlight while being surrounded with some dramatic shadows from the back door curtains. Enjoy.

We’re a little late this month with our monthly picture due to a nasty virus that made a mess of our computer. Luckily no files were lost, just a bunch of time. We decided it was time invest in some proper virus protection (instead of the free stuff that’s online) so this doesn’t happen again.

But better late than never so here is our pick for March. A bit of a tough choice but the clear winner was Jasmine flying across the screen as Super-Cat from A Year of Cats - March 15. She’s really having a good stretch on the carpet, but it looks more like she’s your friendly neighborhood feline super-hero!

We love it. We hope you do too.

We had been having a run of beautiful Sunny days with unseasonably warm temperatures. I decided to take advantage of this warm spell and do some woodworking and a few other things in the backyard.

After a couple of hours I looked back at the house and noticed I had some company. I was being watched by two of our cats. It was Dax and Jasmine. They were very curious about why I was outside and what I was doing.

Normally I would have let them out to explore and sniff around for a while, but the yard was a bit of a mess and the noise from my power tools would probably scare them back inside.

So I let my little furry audience of two had to stay behind the safety of our back door and continue to be entertained by my back-yard activities.

Jasmine followed her nose into a nice pair of winter boots the other day. She loves all kinds of footwear, especially our winter boots. She strode into the kitchen gave me a quick glance and dove into the boots.

It was funny watching how much she enjoyed playing around with them. At one point she almost completely disappeared in one boot.

Jasmine has rolled before. Now she’s doing it again. It’s what she does all the time and she loves doing it. It probably won’t be her last time either.

Here is Jasmine rolling again. Her drop and roll has become her trademark move. It’s the cutest darn thing too! You can’t help but love it.

This time she decided to get her tail in on the act. “Silly tail, getting in the way of my rolling!” “I’ll teach you”, says Jasmine.

Its great watching Jasmine roll around and seeing all the different antics she gets into. She’s in a very playful, happy mood when she’s rolling.

Here Jasmine hams it up even more for the camera with carpet rubs, stretches and more of her unique cuteness. Of course our little princess cat loved all the attention.

There’s also a little surprise after the pictures, or should I say my attempt at poetry that was largely influenced by the fine writings of Dr. Suess (from countless bedtime readings) and inspired by Poetikat’s wonderful poems.

See more Pictures of Cats in - Jasmine Rolls - Part 2: More of a Sun soaked afternoon with boots

This is a fun sequence of photos I took of Jasmine as she spent the afternoon sleeping on the kitchen rug. It’s probably the longest series of images I’ve ever taken of the cats so I’ve had to do this post in a few parts.

Jasmine has a thing for boots and shoes. She loves them. Needless to say she plopped herself down on the kitchen rug right between my grubby shoes and my son’s winter boots.

Jasmine looked extremely comfortable and snuggled right in. In addition to the shoes the sun was streaming in through the back door creating the quintessential spot for Jasmine to lounge the afternoon away.

I only planned to take a few images, but Jasmine really hammed it up for the camera so much I kept shooting while she kept offering little meows and rolling around on the rug stretching and being all cute ‘n stuff.

Enjoy the pictures. Jasmine certainly enjoyed having them taken.
