Miracle Cats

Miracle Cats

There have been a run of stories recently about cats that have survived unbelievable situations. I always hate to hear about bad things like this happening to any animal, but it’s always nice to read a story with a happy ending.

The first story I read was about Stewie the Cat. A victim of animal cruelty, Stewie survived unbelievable odds after being shot in the head with an arrow!

Then I saw a story about a stray kitten who survived a 22-mile car ride under the hood of a car.

A few days later, I read a tragic story about a cat that accidentally fell 17 stories. He was badly injured but miraculously survived the fall.

Next was a story about a cat that people where calling the luckiest cat in Britain. Bob the Cat was cruelly thrown out of a moving train and survived.

It’s horrible to hear about the vicious way people treat animals and the terrible situations our four legged friends have to deal with. Unfortunately some cats aren’t as lucky as these ones which is very saddening. On the other hand, it’s thrilling to see when a cat, or any animal for that matter, manages to overcome impossible odds.

You can read the original stories here.

The Cat that came out of nowhere

We’ve recently been having the good fortune of running into some friendly neighborhood cats while out enjoying the amazing autumn weather. The other weekend I was out for a walk around the neighborhood and this sociable little cat appeared out of nowhere. We made instant friends.

She also had lots to say and was a glutton for attention. She didn’t sit still the entire time she was around us. I was with my son and he was thrilled to see the cat. Our little friend rolled in the dirt, then on the street by the curb, then back on the dirt and grass and finally she was off. She meowed to us first as if to say ‘see ya later’ and dashed into a backyard on the other side of the street.

Fortunately I got some fun pictures to share with our readers. I’m sure we’ll be seeing this fun, little cat again sometime.

Top 10 Safety Tips for no Scaredy Cats at Halloween

It’s important to keep your cat safe and stress-free at Halloween. We usually focus all our energy on our family and let our pets fend for themselves.

Halloween is a hectic and sometimes scary holiday for your cat. Here is a list common-sense tips to keep in mind this Halloween to help protect your pet from the ghosts and goblins.

  1. Try to keep your cat indoors during the days leading up to Halloween and on Halloween day as well. Some cats are used for pranks and satanic purposes by a few unethical individuals. Some animal shelters and the Humane Society will not let people adopt Black Cats from mid-October through to Halloween for this very reason.

Pictures of Cats from Our Readers - Lilly

Lilly on the stove.
Lilly on the stove.

My cat Lilly was born on March 4, 2008. She lives in the Southern Maine part of the United States. She’s a lean, spunky cat who like to play GOTCHA! You never know when she’ll be hiding around a corner ready to attack you!

Although feisty, Lilly is extremely gentile. She’s pretty sure of herself most of the time. She can be very mellow too and she can be moved into almost any position. She hates being home alone and will gladly go along for a ride with me in the car to do errands.

She likes it when I park in the “dumpster section” of the parking lots where there are lots of seagulls to watch and chatter at. Her favorite place to perch is on my shoulder, and she will stay there for just about as long as I let her. I have often made my breakfast, brushed my teeth and/or put on my makeup with her perched there.

Lilly also loves to sleep on top of the stove while it is still warm. She’s a very demanding (pick-me-up) kind of kitty. She sleeps on my neck. She’s a wonderful, spoiled rotten cat! Lilly also has about 35 photos on catbook and can be viewed on catbook profile view (5206068).

Pictures of Cats from Our Readers - Princess

Princess lives in the steel city of Hamilton, Ontario. She has the run of the house and loves to lounge around in the basement on her favorite chair. Her chair sits in an out of the way spot but gives her a great view of all the comings and goings downstairs.

Jasmine Rocking and Rolling in the Sun

Jasmine is our rock and roll cat. This time she’s shaking, rattling and rolling in the sun. She’s all shook-up. She’s twistin’ and turnin’. She is moving and groovin’ this time.

I think it was the effect of the hot sun on her fur. Having someone around to encourage her on helped a bit too! Watch her as she rolls into the ‘cuteness of rock ‘n roll’ record books.

Jade’s new Bag

It’s been a while since Jade has conquered a box by thinking outside of the box. With no boxes in sight it looks like she decided to try out a bag instead. She came across a plastic bag on the floor and I guess she figured it was better than nothing.

She walked away from it a few minutes later seeming a bit disappointed that it wasn’t anywhere near as good as a box. Even so, Jade came back a few minutes later to give the bag a second go. Good show Jade! Hopefully there will be a box for you in the near future. Maybe with a bag in it!
