Pictures of Cats - September Outtakes

Here is our set of outtakes for September 2008 that didn’t quite make the grade for a normal post but still had a certain visual appeal from a purely accidental perspective. A type of feline happy photo accident if you will. Either way we hope they make for some interesting viewing. Enjoy, and we’ll see ya next month with more outtakes.

Pictures of Cats - August Outtakes

Here is our monthly group of outtakes for August 2008. Dax is the primary cat in this set of outtakes. I guess he wasn’t willing to stay still long enough for me to get a good picture. He was constantly on the go. The only time I remember seeing him not moving was when he was sleeping. Either way it made for some interesting images. The others are here too in their own unique way.

Cat photography in a nano-second

Photography is all about timing. To get that unique, cool shot you need to be in the right place at the right time, even if it is for just a split-second. Capturing that special image at just the right time before the moment is lost forever can be a very difficult thing to do.

Here are some amazing pictures of split second photography with our favorite subject, Cats!

Let your Cat take the pictures!

What if you could hand over the camera to your Cat and let them take the pictures for a change? It would certainly give you a different perspective on things. Well, with the technology we have today, we can!

Check-out the Cat-Cam. A small digital camera your Cat wears around it’s neck like a collar. Now you can get a glimpse into your Cat’s world the way they see it. It goes where ever you cat goes. It’s perfect for outdoor cats, but can work well for indoor cats as well, especially if your Cat moves around a lot.

The official site has lot’s of info and pictures from other Cat-Cam owners. It was designed for Cats but it could work on any pet. You could even put it on other things like your car, a bike, a kite or anywhere a normal camera wouldn’t be able to go.

Here is Fritz’s picture gallery with pictures he took with his Cat-Cam, plus there’s even a Video showing Fritz in action!

Band of Cats Outtakes - Februray 2008

Here is our latest set of outtakes for February. We took a bunch of pictures in February and as usual some just don’t turn out the way we had hoped. None-the-less these pictures are visually interesting, unique and worthy of the title ‘Outtake’.

So what makes a good outtake? It’s hard to say really. Most of the time it’s based on personal tastes. You either like it or you don’t. There are images that are just no good such as the bad exposures and out of focus shots or where someone has blinked, looked away or had some gunk on their chin.

A good outtake for me usually has some kind of artistic quality to it. Therefore I look for abstract things like shape, form, texture and color. Other elements like composition and subject matter have an impact too.

Anyways, I hope you find something that appeals to you in our latest set of outtakes.

Enjoy!

Band of Cats Outtakes - January 2008

Our last set of outtakes where so much fun, we decided to make it a regular feature here on Band of Cats.

Since we’re always trying new things with the camera there’s always a few shots that don’t quite work out but are still kind of interesting in their own unique way.

Like the Joker said in Batman, “If you wanna make an omlette, you gotta break a few eggs.” These are some of our ‘broken eggs’ but worth keeping.

Therefore, each month we’ll be collecting up the more abstract and accidental pictures of cats we taken and letting everyone take a look.

So, for all the impressionists, surrealists and lovers of accidental photography, sit back and enjoy our latest set of outtakes for January 2008!
