Spooky spent almost an entire sunny afternoon frozen in time and trapped by a sun beam, like Hans Solo frozen in carbonite.

He may even have had an out of body cat experience considering a tap or nudge didn’t have much affect on him. There was the occasional “mmmfph” or brief opening of the eyes just to let us know it was really Spooky and not some conceptual art piece that belongs in an art gallery entitled “Cat in Sun”.

Spooky did manage to break out of his motionless state long enough to look around, clean-up a little and then get back to his sun nap. Here he is in all his sun soaked glory.

Jade had another trip to the vets for a follow-up visit. This time she had to stay overnight for observation and then go for x-rays in the morning. She wasn’t very happy going in the first place and staying overnight was probably the last thing she wanted.

We found out that she has a stone in each of here kidneys. She’ll have them for the rest of her life unless we remove them with surgery. The surgery cost a small fortune so the vet has recommended we slowly introduce her to a wet food diet to help her breakdown the stones or at least keep them from getting any bigger.

We may have to start a fund for Jade if surgery becomes her only option. We’re hoping she does well with her new diet and we have no more worries.

Poor Jade. She was happy to be home, needless to say, but she’s been yelling at us for the past few days for putting her through all that. She’s been getting some extra attention to help her feel better and yesterday she stepped outside to enjoy some beautiful sunny weather. Oh, and she love her new food!

We’ve been very fortunate with a long stretch of sunny weather for April and the cats have taken full advantage of it. Jasmine and Dax shared some time enjoying the Sun, nuzzling and hanging out together. It was like watching ‘Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Fin cats’ with no worries, no place to be and enjoying the day!

Our sun-lovin’ cat came back the very next day just like clockwork. Jasmine was back again for more sun-lovin’ fun. Here she creates a dramatic shadow of her own while being surrounded with a silver-lining from an intense sunbeam.

Jasmine loves sunny days. Spooky does too, but I think Jasmine loves them more. Jasmine spends the most time sitting, rolling and lying in the sun. On a sunny day our back door is the prime spot for any sun-lovin’ cat. There is a nice big matt there that gets completely drenched in sunlight.

Jasmine has spent countless sunny afternoons there and keeps coming back for more. Here is the first of 2 series of images of our Sun-lovin’ cat Jasmine. In this series Jasmine is getting a full dose of sunlight while being surrounded with some dramatic shadows from the back door curtains. Enjoy.

After being cooped up for the past eight months Dax ventured out into the great outdoors. I left the back door open one afternoon to see what would happen. It was a beautiful sunny summer-like day and I decided to enjoy our great weather while having some lunch.

It didn’t take long. A few minutes later, Dax was at the back door. He seemed to be amazed at how much more space there is outdoors. He cautiously stepped out onto the back deck taking it a few inches at a time. He eventually made it al the way to the edge of the deck. I think he’s an outdoor-cat-wanna-be.

We’ll have to leave the back door open more often this season and see how accustomed the cats get to being outside. I’m sure they’ll love it.

Each cat comes out at their own pace until they feel safe outside of their protective home. Jasmine, needless to say, wastes no time and is out and down the deck steps rolling around on the patio and sniffing around trying to find a way out of the yard. Another wanna-be to say the least. She’s been out a few times already. She has no fear when it comes to being outside.

Dax will have to take some lessons from Jasmine on getting out more this year. Here’s Dax’s little adventure on the back deck.

We should make this a regular series on Band of Cats. I guess all the Sunny weather we’ve been getting lately has got the cats yawning more than usual. They’re not sleeping longer but the Sun could be wearing them out more.

Whatever the reason, here’s Spooky and his Sun-nap jumbo yawn. This yawn was during a very relaxing almost Zen-like afternoon Sun-bath/catnap. Spooky loved the moment and was in no hurry to go anywhere.

I’m convinced Spooky was completely stress-free after this catnap.
