We just recently learned about Louis Wain. He was a popular artist back in the 1800’s who spent most of his life drawing animals. He is most famous for his Cat art. The first Cat he drew was of his own Cat ‘Peter’ and later he would develop a style of Cat art that would define his career.

Louis studied at the West London School of Art and later became a teacher there. He was very successful as a freelance artist drawing animals and landscapes. It wasn’t until he was married that he started creating many wonderful drawings of cats mostly based on his own Cat.
We found a wonderful collection of his Cat art, available as high quality Giclee prints that you can see below. As Louis Wain continued to draw Cats as his main subject he developed a style that showed anthropomorphic portrayals of Cats. This type of art was very popular at their time.
As you can see in his Cats posters Louis Cats were depicted in various settings and were involved in many human type activities. The style is very unique and quite entertaining.
Take a look through his art and click any image to see more info or to get a print for your own collection.
