This Cat is a real ‘Tiger’!

This may be the closest you’ll get to owning your own Tiger. This is a purebred cat that has been registered with the International Cat Association (TICA) under the name “Toyger”.

Cats in the News - Toygers

The Toyger was created by Judy Sudgen to inspire more people to help more with wild tiger conservation.

The image above is from a National Geographic New Photo Gallery that was one of the top ten news photo galleries of 2007.

Click here for the ”Toygers” vs. Tigers” news photo gallery.

It would be interesting to see how the Band of Cats would react to a Toyger in the house. It would definitely take some getting used to for them and things would, well, be rather ‘interesting’ for a while to say the least.

Prices start around $800. and go all the way up to $3500. for ‘show quality’ toygers. With those prices I don’t think Spooky, Dax, Jasmine and Jade have to worry about any Toygers around here for a while.

Primaeval Cattery is a breeder of Toygers. Check them out for more great pictures and if you’re interested in learning more about these mini-tigers.

You can find a complete list of Toyger breeders at the Toyger Cat Society web site.

Do you know of anyone with a Toyger? Send us a comment and let us know what you think of this relatively new breed of cat.

  2. I have 2 toygers, they are FANTASTIC!!! Only one looks like the traditional toyger, the other is a blue color. They’re funny, playful, energetic and very graceful. They are great with kids, other cats and dogs (although we don’t have any anymore). They are so much fun!

  3. If you like, please send along some pictures of your Toygers to share with our readers. They sound amazing. We would be happy to feature them on the blog.
